It's been decided, I hope!

It’s been decided, I hope.

As I write this, its election day. By the time you read this, my hope is it has all been decided. Maybe it’s a sign of just getting older, but I find myself wishing the campaign season was a lot shorter. I just want the whole thing to be over. I have been amused over the past few weeks listening to both sides talk about this election. The future hangs with the outcome of this election. Prosperity on one side, doom and gloom on the other side. It all depends on who you are listening to and which candidate they support.

As God’s people we will still be able to seek the Kingdom of God regardless of who “wins”. That’s what I will focus on as the results come in late tonight and probably on into tomorrow morning. I love our country, and I am proud to be a citizen of the United States of America, and as much as we are blessed by living here, America does not have my ultimate loyalty. The USA is not the Kingdom of God, and the Kingdom of God does not depend on the success or failure of America.

I have lived long enough to hear this statement several times. “This is the most important election of our lifetime. Everything we hold sacred is at risk.” In as much as every election is important, tomorrow morning this I know will be true. God will still be sovereign over His universe, He will still rule over the hearts and lives of His people. As great as our country is, nothing can compare to the great things God has done for His people in His son.

Paul wrote in the glory days of the Roman Empire, “We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior”.

No matter what happens today, I know where my allegiance is, and I wait for my King’s return! God bless you all!   Philip

“Make the Master proud of you by being good citizens. Respect the authorities, whatever their level; they are God's emissaries for keeping order. It is God's will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of the fools who think you're a danger to society. Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules. Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.”  1st Peter 2:13-17
